The 4 Best Toledo Food Choices at Disney
I have said it before and I will continue to shout it from the rooftops, Toledo is criminally underrated as a restaurant in Disney. We have made many reservations here and have never been disappointed. As a matter of fact, former CEO Bop Chapek once brought the CEO from a massive pharmacy company (CVS) here to make a pitch to the company. Ambience, food quality, and a view, Toledo has it all. Here are out four favorite things to order here. Located in Disney’s Coronado Hotel, we think you will want to visit this resort and see what Toledo’s has to offer for yourself.
Let’s start with our favorite appetizer. Usually we go for a charcuterie board if thats an option, and it is, but we prefer The Flight of Four Pinxtos as pictured here. Admittedly the portions looked a little smaller than some pictures I have seen online, but it’s just a appetizer, and enough to get you started. From top the bottom is the Tortilla Espanola Spanish Potato Omelet, the Chilled Mussel “Escabeche,” the Olive Oil-poached Tuna with Lemon and the Valdeon Blue Cheese with Fig and Honey.
There are many other options on the menu if these sound a little to adventurous for you taste buds. The charcuterie board is good here but we like the variety that this particular option provides. And who doesn’t like something named The Flight of Four Pinxtos?
Next up are two great entrees and they are both beef servings. Sorry to the chicken lovers and to the vegetarians but these two entrees are the best on the menu. Seen below is the Fillet of Beef. The mushrooms were a fantastic addition and the potatoes were mashed and seasoned to perfection. The Fillet was outstanding as well, seen here cocked medium to rare. The platting is outstanding and has an artists touch, as expected, when presented.
Next up is the Hangar Steak. You will recognize it by the orange dot drops of goodness that you’ll want to smear your steak through when you take a bite. It’s almost to beautiful to disturb, but sometimes in the name taste, sacrifices must be made. Besides, thats why they put cameras on phones right? Cooked to medium in this picture it is outstanding in presentation and flavor.
And…. Of course we must add a dessert for the last choice. This delicious piece of chocolates goodness it called the Toledo Tapas Bar. The toppings are coffee, chocolate, raspberry, and lemon curd. I can assure you that no part of this dessert had a bad taste to it. Interestingly enough, my husband and I could split this bar and be happy with him preferring the chocolate and coffee half and myself the lemon and raspberry.
Once again the presentation and the taste were on par with anything we have had at Disney (with the exception of Victoria & Alberts which is of course on a whole other level). We have found an understated gem in the Disney dinning game and this place makes our recommendation list.
Now, if you have read our blog for very long you know we are a sucker for the California Grill. It was our first “fine dining” experience on an anniversary trip with great service from a waiter who happened to be from just outside of my home town. Add to that a night time view over Magic Kingdom, seeing the fireworks, Space Mountain and the Castle charm with their purplish glow - you can see why were are sucked in. Toledo is the Hollywood Studios version of what California Grill is to Magic Kingdom. Pictures will not do justice for being there yourself. Request a seat at a window and if possible and the greeters will do what they can to accommodate you! Who doesn’t want to dine while overlooking Galaxy’s Edge and the Tower of Terror? Trust us, it’s a great time.
So what is our final review?
Adults: 8/10
Kids: 4/10
It is difficult to give this a 10 when places like California Grill are on Disney property. California Grill does what Toledo‘s does, only a little better. For kids, we don’t know if the distant view will be enough to make them choose this place over something with character dining. For sure, we have seen a lot of satisfied kids here, and it is not bad for kids, it’s just probably not going to tap into the “Disney Magic” for them like it probably will for adults. Date night? A MUST try!
