Universal Studios: A Strong Vacation Destination
In the past most people generally though of Universal Studios as more of a one or two day outing for “older” children. Universal has been working hard to change that perception and make itself a real resort destination contender. Competition is a good thing for consumers. In fact, I would say they have offered stiff competition to the Mouse himself and do not seem to be relenting anytime soon. Why pick Universal? Here are some reasons we think booking a Universal trip may hit the spot for many travelers!
Universal has really taken its theming up a notch with the introduction of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The level of immersion is certainly at “Disney level” and in some points they may be beating Disney at their own game. It’s no secret the Harry Potter sections are a big reason why many people are drawn to Universal, and for good reason. Though they have never revealed the cost associated with building the lands when you see the extent of how detailed and accurate the replications are you will think you are in the movies. From eating at the Leaky Cauldron (or 3 Broomsticks) or having a Butterbeer (which is like purely delicious golden liquid butterscotch) Universal has nailed the immersion effect of this world that has been a part of the childhood of so many people. We could do a whole post on each section of the Harry Potter themed areas, and we will in another post, but for now trust us when I say it’s what you want and more. Oh yeah, don’t forget to ride the Hogwarts express. You will need a park hopper to do so but well worth it.
Of course the world class coasters must come into play when speaking about the highlights of Universal. My personal favorite is Rip Ride Rocket while my better half prefers the new Velocicoaster. Add the Hulk and the Mummy into the mix and you have a strong line up. But did we mention Hagrid’s? The best ride (in my humble but educated opinion) Universal has to offer? The newest coaster in Isle of Adventure located in Hogsmeade is on the best new attractions in the world. I am not the only one saying this, a lot of “important” people in the theme park and entertainment world agree. Hagrid’s is more family friendly than the other coasters mentioned but fun is definitely on the menu with this new launch coaster. Expect many elements to be combined into one great ride that makes for an experiment the whole family will love. Hagrid’s does not use a screen or 3-D technology but relies on more “real” visuals such as animatronics.
Universal has grown to three parks and another park, named Epic, is being built with delays due to Covid. We start with Isle of Adventure is fantastic. The park is divided into these lands, Marvel. Toon, Lost Continent, Jurassic Park, Seuss Landing & of course Hogsmeade. The original park (where you “ride the movies”) contains Diagon Alley and the fan favorite “Krusty Land” themed after the long running Simpsons’ show.
