The Chocolate Emporium Review
Here are two facts that are anything but secret. One, those who like to vacation well usually like to eat well (that necessarily makes food reviews a BIG part of what we do…. and we're not complaining about that either) and two, the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium looks like something straight out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Divided between a candy shop and restaurant, this eye catching structure in Universal Orlando’s City Walk is a must do. Today’s review covers what the restaurant side of the Chocolate Emporium is like and what you should expect. To skip the details and see the final grade we give this restaurant scroll to the bottom of the article to see our rating.
We had been in the Chocolate Emporium before the restaurant had opened and loved their quality (albeit expensive) chocolate. So after procrastinating long enough, we decided to give the restaurant a go… and we can definitely say you should green light this place.
Let’s start with an appetizer nearly everyone should try. Chocolate bread. Yes, we typed that correctly. Everyone likes chocolate, except those who don’t and they are wrong (ok - I’m being a little sarcastic, but seriously, why wouldn’t you like chocolate?). This bread may look like a freebie at Outback Steakhouse but unlike Outback bread - this tastes like it looks. We recommend trying it with butter (another no-brainer) and prepare to be amazed at how an appetizer perfectly blends dessert with a not-so-filling first course that leaves room for the main dish. At this point, we knew we were dealing with a restaurant that would be on par with some of the best.
Our suspicions were right: The Chocolate Emporium is more than a gimmick, it’s really delicious food well prepared by chefs and better than what you find at most chain restaurant in the area.
I sampled the Wild Mushroom & Chicken Risotto. The sampling turned into something just short of gluttony. This was seriously good and the picture does not do justice for how well this dish presented. Pictures especially are poor at not being able to convey the level of depth and detailed flavor blends going on here.
My daughter tried the Vegetable Pasta Plate. She is not a vegetarian but loves vegetables. Of course, we sampled each other’s dishes and can say the quality was high across the board. The noodles on this plate were zucchini and eggplant and the sauce was a roasted Romesco sauce.
Other options are abundant so picky eaters will have no problem finding something they like here. I especially am looking forward to trying the chocolate waffle, the various french toast offerings, and being a burger connoisseur one of those too. You got a lot to choose from whether you want a quiche, salmon or salad.
We also need to get serious here and admit that even though the food served was above expectation and delicious, you don’t leave here without a dessert. The shakes offered at the time of our experience were:
Strawberry Cheesecake
Key Lime Pie
Chocolate X5
Confetti
Right Side Up Shake
Red Velvet
Thrilla in Vanilla
Marshmallow Crisp
Heavenly Hazlenut
That’s “Mint”
Cookie Jar
Brownie
Espresso Buzzzz
Sundaes & other desserts are available also. Be aware that each shake will set you back $14-16 a piece, and they are large. So, if possible save room for dessert in your stomach and your wallet.
Rating for Adults 9.5/10
This is a must-try. It’s difficult to give a 10 when Mythos is present and really has no weak points to point out. No complaints here either though. Make a reservation and plan to have a delightful experience.
Rating for Kids 9.5/10
Anything with this many dessert options will be loved by kids. The only thing that could tip this over to a 10 would be character dining.
